The Food Purveyor Launches a New Campaign to Feed Over 130 SPCA Selangor Rescued Pets

KUALA LUMPUR: The Food Purveyor (TFP), operator of Malaysia’s leading premium grocery chain – Village Grocer, Ben’s Independent Grocer (B.I.G.), BSC Fine Foods and Leisure Grocer; launches a new campaign to support SPCA Selangor’s efforts to feed over 130 cats and dogs in their care. Members of TFP BITES Loyalty Programme can donate through the BITES App by donating 500 Points to ensure that these rescued cats and dogs have sufficient food under the SPCA’s care. Every donation of 500 BITES points (equivalent to RM5) will provide three meals for a cat and one meal for a dog.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, SPCA Selangor has had a challenging year managing animal welfare matters with a limited budget. This year alone, SPCA Selangor received over 400 cats and dogs who were either abandoned, surrendered or rescued from the streets.

To alleviate the financial burden and ensure no rescued pets suffer from hunger, TFP is launching this campaign to help SPCA Selangor in their mission to feed and care for these animals. Donations, such as those made by TFP BITES’ members, will ensure that these rescued pets do not miss out on essential meals while they wait for their permanent home.

“This donation programme could not have come at a better time. We are thrilled and grateful for the kind gesture by The Food Purveyor, who graciously agreed to support the rescued cats and dogs. The donations will provide food and shelter for the rescued cats and dogs as we have about 20 to 30 cats and dogs abandoned or surrendered each month,” said Christine Chin, Chairman of SPCA Selangor.

Meanwhile, Geoff King, CEO of The Food Purveyor, said, “We are pleased to establish this new initiative with SPCA Selangor and we know our customers respond superbly to support those in need and are especially fond of animals. We hope it will have a huge positive impact on rescue pets in the Klang Valley area and ensure these animals are well taken care of.”

In 2018, The Food Purveyor created a member loyalty app called Bites to provide customers with rewards and save future grocery purchases each time they visit any Village Grocer, Ben’s Independent Grocer (B.I.G.), BSC Fine Foods and Leisure Grocer outlets. BITES also serves as a gateway for shoppers to support charitable organisations and allows shoppers to donate to a good cause.
